Australian Hill Climb Champion & British Formula 3 Champion

In a dedicated career across a broad range of disciplines, Tim Schenken has made an inspiring contribution to Motor Sport.

As a driver, Schenken made an early impression as winner of the 1964 Australian Hill Climb championship before heading to England and a successful international career.

As the 1968 British Formula Three Champion, Schenken targeted a Formula 1 career and he ultimately made 36 F1 race appearances.

A third-place in the 1971 Austrian Grand Prix driving a Brabham Cosworth was a highlight before Schenken joined Ferrari’s international sports car team.

Schenken won the Buenos Aires and Nurburgring 1000 kilometre races with podium finishes at Daytona, Sebring and Brands Hatch.

A second Nurburgring 1000 kilometre win with Porsche came in 1977 in a period when Schenken became a car constructor with Howden Ganley.

The Tiga company built around 400 cars for various categories from Formula Ford to the World Sportscar Championship.

A Tiga Ford, driven by Alfredo Costanzo won the Australian Drivers Championship in 1982 and 83.

Since retiring from competition and car construction Schenken has served as hugely respected official both as Director of Racing Operations with CAMS and many other roles including Clerk of Course at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix and Supercars Race Director.
